Wacky Cake
Wacky Cake was popular during the Great Depression because of it's unique mixture of components. It has NO eggs, milk or butter. It is surprisingly good, despite not having these ingredients. It is chocolatey, moist and simple to make!
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Make three wells in the mixture.
Add vanilla into the well, add oil to the second well and vinegar to the third well. Pour from the bowl until no lumps remain and beat.

Moist, chocolatey and easy to make! This cake contains no butter, eggs or milk and has been popular in the Depression era.
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 tablespoon vinegar
- 2 cups cold water
Instructions
- Add flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt to a large bowl. Stir to combine. Make 3 wells in mixture.
- Add vanillaoil and vinegar .
- Pour into an ungreased 9×13 pan. Bake for 60 minutes or till a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before cutting.
