Chocolate Spoonful Cake





INGREDIENTS

For cake layers

  • 3 oz semisweet chocolate
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For filling/frosting

  • 3 oz semisweet chocolate
  • 1 cup thick cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For glaze

  • 3 oz semisweet chocolate
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips and also 1/2 cup semiseet chocolate shavings, chopped using a vegetable peeler in the bar of chocolate, for coat side of cake

PREPARATION

  • In a bowl using an electric mixer beat together sugar and butter until fluffy and light. Purchase vanilla and sour cream . Add eggs1 at a time, beating well with following every addition.
  • In a bowl whisk together cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt and add to sour cream mixture, beating until just blended. Beat in chocolate is just combined and split between pans.
  • Layers in centre of oven until a tester comes out clean, about half an hour. Cool layers in pans on rack 10 minutes and then invert onto racks to cook.
